Considerable information appears in the Sureau's files concerning -~
this person, particularly as to his activities in the American Student Union. He

some period when he left this group to become Ceneral Executive. Secretary of the
international Student Unicon. Lash is reported tc have attended the 10th naticnal .
convention of the Communist Party which was held in 1938, being a representative
of the American Student Union. He is further listed as a member of the National
Committee of the American League for Peace and Democracy, this appearing on a
letterhead of this organization dated August 2, 1939. It will be recalled that
Lash was very friendly with vrs. Franklin D. Roosevelt and at.one time there was
publicity given to the fact that he was employed by the Office of Civilian fefense.
; As it appeared that Lash was making application for a commission
in the Naval Reserve, all information with respect to him was made available to
OkI. No investigation has been made of this person under the provisicns of the
Public Law. ; .
