EXTORTION
On June 25, 1968, the office of Senator Edward M.
Kennedy, Boston, Massachusetts, made available the following-
described items:

at West Palm Beach, Florida, bearing
ar handprinted address: "MR. JOSEPH P.
if” KENNEDY BROOKILINE, MASS."

= propose 'TEDD' to be the next victum?".
On July 5, 1968, the facts of this case were discussed
with Assistant U. S. Attorney George Sheehy, Boston, Massachusetts,
who stated the above letter does not constitute a violation within
the elements of the Federal Extortion Statute. In view of this
an} opinion, no further investigation is being conducted by the Federal
{ Bureau of Investigation.
“ On July 31, 1968, the following agencies were advised of
the receipt of the anonymous letter:
Edward F. Sweeney, Assistant Special Agent in
Charge, U. S. Secret Service, Boston, Massachusetts
¢) Barnstable
my Police Department, Hyannis, Massachusetts
(summer residence of Joseph P. Kennedy)
