Such activities were restrained by the military aad shore police in t by the fact that blackout restrictions were maintained during the mentioned period. _ However, since the 1943 and 1944 winter ‘seasons begun and as the Army and Navy were leasing the various night clubs and hotels, the Miami Area became a mecca for gambling to 6 great extent. The tourists are in possession of more money for gambling purposes due to war prosperity. It appears that this winter season in the Miem!l Area has brought an influx of mobsters with large sums of money to invest in gambling enterprises and individuals who never before have been seen in these parts. .
