On August 17, 1950, a Federal Grand Jury tn the Southern
Diatrict of New York returned an indictment charging Jultus
Rosenberg, Ethel Rosenberg and dnatolt Yakovlev with violation of
Seatton 34, Tt4le 50, United States “Code. rhte tndtotment alleged
eleven evert acts.
On August 18, 1950, Morton sodell was taken inte custody
by Bureau agents tn Laredo, Tezas, after hte deportatton by
_ ~ Mextoan authorities, Ne was arratgned en ‘the sane date before
Untted States Countastoner Frank Y. Hill of the Southern Distrtot
of Texas. He watved removal to Wew York and was renanded to the
custody of the united States Marshal tn default of $100,000 batl.
Ne was thereafter returned to Few Yerk by the Untted States
Marshal on Auguset 23, 1950.
On duguet 23, 1950, Jultus and Ethel Rosenberg were
arratgned before Untted States Dletrict Judge T. Hoyt pavta of the
Southern Dietrict of New York. They were represented by their
counsel, Faanuel #. Blooh, and plea of not guilty was entered by
