An unesealed communication from the Post Office at Hot Springs contains ~*~
notice of the receipt of registered mail for Mr. Richard Galatas, et
4 letter posed at Omaha, Nebraska, no return address, ie directed to
br. &. 1. Dyer, 407 LaSalle, Hot Springs, and forwarded to 107 Harrell,
a printed postecard directed to Galatase ia from Bollinger, Secretary of
Sahara Shrine Temple, Pine Bluff, Arkansas.
Comunicaticne apparently cortaining staterents are from Schneck Drug
Company, Hot Springs, and Gilliams landing, Het Springs, and there is e
card announcing sale of Nunn-Bush Shoes from Harris and Frank, 637 S, Hill
Street, Loe angeles, California. The mail box also contained a copy of the
Elks Magazine. .
. In connection with the above, it was ascertained through inquiry at the
office of the C. I. %. Corporation, 615 Waliece Bldg, Little Rock, that
that company ie finencing a Ford Deluxe Coupe, ¥e8, 1932 Model, motor
number 18-86091, for Galates. ‘The last payment was made May 10, 1955,
and the account is accordingly two months past due. The recollection of
employees of the finance company is that payments are made either by person-
al check or money order. The filea of the finance company contain a report
by a mercantile reporting agency, which shows that Galatas was formerly
connected with the Southern Garage at Hot Springs and now operates a cigar
estore am gambling place. That he ie reported to be a free spender, and is
also reported to own business property valued at $250,000.00 in Detroit and
Loe Angeles, specific locations being unknown, Agents were advised that a
representative of the finance company, Charles Mc Neill, is now at Hot Springs
making inquiries in this and other natters, and efforts will be made to de-
termine from him what information he has as to the whereabouts of Jalatas.
The eddress of the Kansas City office was left with the C. I. T. people, who
promised to immediately advise should they receive information as to his
location.
at the Arcansas National Bank, Hot Springs, it was ascerteined through
interview with FP. N. Rix, President, and D. 0. Sims, Vice-President and
Cashier, that they heave a checking account in the name of Richard Gelatas,
the address being given as Central Cigar Store. The account was opened in
May, 1032, end has had a emall average balance. The last check, in the
anount of $20.26, was paid June 16, 1935, and the balance to his credit is
now $156.02. The bank has no personal history of Galetes, advising that be -
