Such additional investigation as may become necessary in the vicinity of - Hot Springs, arkansas, will be requested from time to time of the Oklahoma City office, . . At Eanesas City, Missouri. Agent Trainor secured from Mr. Paul Walker, Chief Clerk of the Bestorn Union Telegraph Company here, photostatic copies of application for money order am draft dated May 16, 1933, indicating that an order for §500.00 was tranemitted from the Plaza branch of the Weetern Union Telegraph Co., payable to G. W. Miller, through the Arkansas National Bank of Hot Springs, arkansas, sent by a party signing the name of ¥. Page. Mies Doris Thorpe, Clerk at the Western Union Telegraph Company, £14 West 47th Streat, was interviewed by Agent Trainor end identified the money orjer as having been received by her from a customer, who used the name *V. Page.* She stated it was sent by a man who caused her to write the eb- tire orier on the typewriter, except that he signed the "V. Page*s She wae shom a photograph of Subject Miller and stated that eame is not a likeness of the sender. She was shown a photograph of Frank B, Mulloy of Eansas City, a friend of Miller, who has been frequently mentioned heretofore, and expressed the opinion that it ie a likeness of the sender of the money order. _Mies Thorpe stated that it was her impression et the time the man sent the money order that he acted in a very nervous and suspicious manner, éue to the fact that he wrote the order in his own hand and then tore it up and ask- © ed her to write it on the typewriter, She stated she asked him for an address and be nervously refused to give any. At that time, she, therefore, observed him when he left the office and noted that he got into a dark colored Chevro- let coupe, or sedan, she believes it was a coupe. She stated that he presented currency, mostly 10's and 20's, with eeveral $50.00 bills. - +--+ -+-+- +> Miss Thorpe made an appointment to appear at the Kansas City office, on July . 24th at 4 pom, in order that she might view other photographs for purposes of identification, eince she could not be sure of Mulloyts likeness. Thru an arrangenont at the Kansae City office, Mulloy was also caused to appear at the same hour as Miss Thorpe's call would be made, Mulloy appeared at the Kansas City office on schedule time and was inter- viewed here by Special Agente Turrou and this agent. He was asked point. blank by agent Turrou whether or not he wired the money in question to Nash under the name of G. FW. Miller, and, after some hesitation, Mulloy . admitted that he was the party who used the name ¥. Page and sent the = money order. He etated that on May 16, 1955, “Mrs. Miller (VivianjMat- thews, or#Mathis), the paramour of Vernon C. Miller, came to his rosidence in her Chevrolet .. , at which time, she gave him $500.00 in bills of small denominations, altho be believes there might have been one or two | $50.00 bills. He etated that she asked him to have it wired vie Western Union to G. W. Miller at Hot Springe, Arkansas, care of the Arxansas Netional Bank and to uee the name V.
