4s being possibly significant, and for future reference in the fo- etant matter, the following ia noted: ; On July £7, 1933, the following message was telephoned to this office by the state teletype service from MAdison 1271, local 206: "Please advise information Charles A. Floyd will keep home relatives under surveillance if information reliable party in south Anyone.else reported with hin on this trip (se) WW. C. Rhodes Sheriff Madere* Accordingly, SHERIFF W. C. RHODES, Madera, wea contacted by the writer by phone, who advised that be had seen a recent press report reflecting that CHARLES AJPLOYD was thought to be in California. In this connection, SHERIFF RHODES advised thet some time ago in eonnection with a matter in which ' the Burne people were interested, concerning a robbery thought to have been perpotreted by FLOYD and one CHARLES EIRDWELL, he conducted considerable in- vestigation and maintained « lengthy surveillence on MR, and MRS. ELMER ED#ARDS, alleged to be the aumt and uncle of FLOYD, residing in what ie know es the Chowebille country in the northern part of Madera County, Sheriff RHODES was desirous of ascertaining whether or not this Bureeu had any infor- mation to the effect that FLOYD was in thie sestion of the country, and if euch was the case, wuld immediately place a detail for the purpose of main- “taining surveillenee on the above nenmed individuals, Sheriff HEODES was ed- vised thet po official information had been received by this office to the end that FLOYD was in the vicinity, and was requested that in the event he reeeived any information of value coneerning thet individual, or hie where- abouts, that this office be immediately notified. UNDEVELOPED LEADS: TSE LOS ANCELES OFFICE at Long Beech, Californie, will conduct appropriate investigetion at 524 East Stete Street and 761 Gavicta Avenue, in line with the facts es set out in the instent report, and will conduet invesatigetion ae requested in report of reference. THE SAN ANTONIO OFFICE is respectfully requested to ascertain the identity of NEAL N.
