I believe thst in connection with the prosecution of Biiley, @ *
representative of the Depertaent should be asalgned to cooperate with
the authorities of the State of Missourl. You ean be asgured, ef —
course, thet every facility of this Diviaicn uill be at the service ‘
of such a representative and, of course, the service of the State =
of Migscuri in connection with thie prosecution. re
. Bailey, as you know, is nov held at Dalles, ‘Texas, having been
apprehended in @ house south of Paradise, Aexas, which hed been used
as the place of confinenemt of Charles Fr Urechel, of Oklahome City,
who had been kidnaped. It will be necessary to extradite Bailey fron ,~
the Btate of Texas to the State of Missouri end there may be sericus .
difficulties encountered in connection with hie trensportation between ‘
an these states. Also I think that the state authorities would welcome
the asaistance of representatives of thie Department in the trial of
Bailey on a charge of aurder, In view of the fact that the Special
| Agent of this Division and the police officers who were killed were -
engaged in transporting « Federal prisoner to the penitentiary at Leaven-
‘ worth it would seem that the Federal Government would be fully justified
_— in assisting the state in every possible way in the prosecution of Balley
