° Prior to the deperture of agent from Montreal, Conde
it wes learned’ that the telegram which Betty received et the Mount Royal
Hotel on the night of August 14th in reality errived in the afternoon
of the same dey while Betty was at the camp eat Plattsburgh, New York.
She telephoned the mail clerk end asked hin to call her in the erent eny
telegrams came to her. The mail clerk recelled receiving a telegram end
telephoning it to her at Platteburgh. The clerk could not recall where
the message wes from but from recollection seid the telegram was as follows;
‘Dear Bessie, Reeret that I will not be able to meet you" signed “Rhoda.*
In ‘connection with the information supplied by Agent =
Tracy ED :: August 15, 1933, to the effect that Mra.
Betty Bu r een living et the Hotel Pierre, Hew York City, sub-
sequent to her return from Atlantic City, H.J. on the week-end of dugust
S=6, 1933, Manager Buescher of the Hotel Pierre was intervicwed, as well
es Assictant Manager Charles 4. Choquet.
The registration records of the hotel were checked
from July S3let through August 15th for the name of Louis Buchelter and
Betty Buchalter, with their known aliases, but without success. Photographs
- of Mrs. Vivien Allen, se well es Vernon Miller with alieses, were displayed
to Messrs. Buescher and Choquet, and Mr. Choquet recognized the picture of
Mra. Vivien allen as heaving been one of a party of three who registered et
the hotel at 1:15 P.M. on July Sl, 1935.
The registretion records of the perty of three in question
were Iécated by Mr. Choquet, and they revealed thet Mrs. B. Seffer am Le
Seffer, giving their addresses as New York City, and Mre. ¥. Alien, address
Chicago, Ill. registered into the hotel at the time set out ebove and vere
assigned to room 2901 and £902.
