Mayne wee interrogated specifically as to the above
mentioned allegetions, to all of which he remarked that the information ~
was given him by Henshaw and that thie was the only source of his

Upon agents’ recuest, Mayne expressed hia willingness
to arrange for an interview with Henshaw and suggested that in vier
of Henshaw'a posaible reluctance to meet Agente in a Government office, _
that the interview be had in his, Mayne’s,office. Appointment wea
therefore made to meet at 5:15 this afternoon at ifr. Mayne’a office
at 504 Bvans Building. In the meantime, Agente had an interview with
Prohibition Investigator Charles H. Shreve, who stated that Mayne
hes been his informent since July of this year; thet he was surprised
to hear Mayne tell agents thet the information which he imparted to
hin, Shreve, originated from Henehew; thet he, Shreve, was under the
impression that Mayne gave him firet-hand information as ceming from
Covell direct and thet Meyne had never before mentioned the fact to
him thet the information cane from Hensha®. Mr. Shreve etated further
that in the early pert of August, 1935, Mayne introduced Henshaw to him .
as having in his posseesion certain information concerning elcohol
diversions end other Prohibition violations; that Henshaw wae formerly
et informant of Prohibition Chief Ma for Rey in Detroit, was asaccisted
with hi-jackere and while working for Major Ray was aleo in-the eamploy
of bootleggers, serving both ends at sane time; that(Henshaw je —
the present time working for Dre aon of the Wash ily.

Shreve end David Mayne. AMenshaw stated thet he met Covell in May,
