The detectives were requested to secure informetion concerning thie woman but the police informant sdvised thet Essie Gruencamp or seme wamen of « similer sounding name was absolutely ' unknown to the Buchelter mob. In this connection, however, the ~ Mew York City office hed information that a brother of Louis Buchel ter. formerly operated a cabaret in Bridgeport, Corns, but investigetion z at thet point disclosed that no pereon by the name of Buchalter is ° known to police end detectives; that eccording to the city directories “Ro one by thet name bes resided in Bridgeport, Conn. for the past five years; that there have been no caberete or night clubs in Bridgeport dyring the past few years. The information coming from the police informant appeared so reliable that the Kansas City office wee — telephoned on September Oth end requested thet their informant not proceed to New York City as yet end the possibility of their informant being connected with Red Tompkins in New York City wes suggested ané the office of origin is checking on the possibility. of such connection.
