On October 17, the writer conferred with Comiesiones Roche 7
and Chief of Detectives Sohub of the Buffalo Police Department, and af- ig ae
vised them of the information as to the possibility of *Pretty Boy* and ©:
Beulah Baird having been seen in the City of Rochester, N,Y., on.
October 13, 1933, and es Buffalo, N.Y,, ie the nearest large city to
Rochester, 1¢ was believed advisable that they should be informed, ©
Commissioner Roche directed Chief Schuh to bave several copies of the’ photo Ege
of "Pretty Boy* and Beulah Baird made, and distributed among the detectives
with appropriate instructions to make exhaustive inquiry throughout the 3
city to ascertain whether or not “Pretty Boy" had ever beenin the City ¢
Buffalo or xhether anyone answering his description hed deen seen recentlye
The writer wes eubsequently advised by chief Schuh thet” exe
haustive inquiry hed bean made by his men but that no information had been = 8 =
procured, that anyone who resembled “Pretty Boy", had been in the city
Presently or at any time; that his men will continue to make inquiry end --:.---

“ Department advised that no information had bean procured ty them or their
men which would definitely establish thet “Pretty Boy” and Boulah Baird hed

Detectives Galloway and Sharpe advised the writer that since
. ‘Jest being interviewed, they bad been unable to procure any information wich .
would corroborate the statement made by Hartman, the speakeasy proprietor
previously referred to, although thay contacted several inforsants sho
frequent Hartman's place, but were unable fe » find anyone who as there on

bootiegger in Rochester, mows "Pretty Boy", having met him in the West,”
and that he, Galloway, feels certain that wore “Pretty Boy* in Roches tal, - vies

viated denied ever having seen "Pretty Boy” recentlye
Tne writer, together rith Detectives Galloway and gherpe,
observed for several hours various known han;j-outs where persons of
"Pretty Boy's” calibre frequent, but no one anawering his description ao
that of Beulah Baird, was seen, and although innumerable confidential
