Conroy to cover the movements of the women, who were apparently leaving
town, agent shadowed the Keating and Holden women at a safe distance in a
car as they left the Pickwick hotel on the morning of October 6th; they
first proceeded to the drug store at 126 Missouri avenue, which ie men-

around the eity streets on the morning of October 6th, and the fact that the ....
women had taken a rather circuitous route to the drug store, it was not

Innediately when the women deperted from “the drug store they - were trailed
after passing the intersection of Missouri and Walnut. ‘There was, there- tom
fore, absolutely no probability of their having been suspicious of the car
which followed them. This agent followed agent Bray at a considerable dia-
tance with the use of the Buick Sedan, which would, tierefore, not be noticeable
in any manner to the occupants of the Ford car ariven by Lillian Holden. It
was found that the wonen took a course toward Ko. 40 Highway, east. agent
Bray kept within sight of them in his car, and this Agent took e different
route to the city limits, wherethe cars were again picked up. When the Keat~
ing and Holden women had "reached a point near Leeds, Missouri, this Agent, .
while agent Bray pursued the shadow, telephoned Special agent in Charge Conroy
at the Kansas City office, advising as to the route being traveled by the women.
‘accordingly, Mr, Conroy communicated telephonically with Special agent F. F. -
Yearsley, who was stationed at Columbia at the Daniel Boone Tavern Hotel, pure
suant to pravisus arrangement. Mr. Conroy shortly thereafter departed for Cole “
wmbia, Missouri. It was, of course, not intended or necessary that Mr. Conroy
perfomn any survelllance of the car driven by Liliian Holden and Mar}. Keating,
since that angle was already being covered,
The Keating and Holden women atopped for a change of o12 and 4a supply of gaso-
line when they reached the Sni-bar Gardens, about fifteen miles east of Kansas
City, and shortly after having passed the town of Leeds. While they were in
the filling etetion, Asent in Charge Conroy proceeded on the highway to Columbie,
Missouri, from a vantage point that could not give suspicion, Agent Bray and
