a= the suitcase up to Apartment 211 and Bobbie stayed in the apartment for some little time. Later, Bobbie went down and got in the Ford Coupe and arcve it away. After learning definitely thet it had been Bobbie who had taken the valise out of this particular Ford, Agents and officers were dispatched to endeavor to locate the garage or parking lot, and the car was later loceted on @ parking lot directly opposite the Sherone Apartments. An attempt was made to open the car, in order to see the contents of a brief case which had been left in the car, but efforts were unsuccessful until the following morn- ing, st which time e key expert made a key and the contents were noted, but _ did not reveal any identification of the person who owned the car, , The following morning Mrs. Polachek informed Agent Keating, at a meeting which of necessity had to be had three or four blocks fran the epartrent, that persons in the Sherone Apartments had made complaint to the police thet suspicious men had been hanging around the Sherone Apartments all night in autamobiles. Arrangements had previously been made by Acting Special Agent in Charge Smith with the 28th Precinet covering thet district, advisirg them of our surveillance so thet no interference would be bad, and this was maintained by all officers on duty neer the Sherone Apartments. Because ser- eral of the complaints had come fran persons in the Sherone Apartments, it was decided that it would be impossible to maintein a surveillence on the streets im-eciately surrounding the apartment, without Vivian, Bobbie Moore or Miller learning of same, and Agent Hartin and Officer Curtin were instructed to endeavor to establish a contact in the apartment immediately adjoining the rear end of tne Sherone Apartments, to see thether we could get a place of observation so het officers could cover the roof of the one story section of the Sherone Apartments and also the windows of Apartment 211, as well as the fire escape. After saxe difficulty, Agent Hartin prevailed upon a IMr. Ray, who occupied an apertment on the second flocr and immediately overlooking Apartment 211 in the Sherone Apartments, to permit Hartin and three officers to take up posi- tions in his apartment, and Agent Hartin and these officers immediately took up their position. The squad car was then moved dom Galt Avenue and the of- ficers in this car; namely, Donovan, Lynch and Pidgeon, took up their positions with Hartin in the apartment. Agents Rice, Van Wagoner and Mehegan were then instructed to move their car from directly in front of the Sheridan Apertments, on the opposite side of the street, to a corner whereby they could observe any action taking place at the Sherone Apartments, and also they were instructed to take turns walking down Sheridan Road on the opposite side of the street GY tne Suerone Apartments, to be in immediate position if anything occurred. Conferences had been had by the writer with you during the above period and after discussing the possibility of Miller ascerteining thet the apartment was probably covered and thet he would attempt to sneak out during the night by means of the windows, over the roofs, or the rear fire escape, it was decided in the opinion of the writer, th.t everything pointed to the
