Ande LD E33. the home of Dr. Parks. #& 5. sen next interviewed “metated that he had been very active in attempting to secure forma tion regarding Galatae and furnished Agent Andersen with substantially the same information as was furnished by Mre. Parks. He said that he felt certain in his own mind that Galatas ia not at Hot Springs. Fe asserted, however, that he has kept the Spear residence under surveillance for several nighta and has determined that there is probably some criminal activity centering around the house. He observed that the shades in the upper part of the house are always drawn end that @ emali light is generelly burning therein during the night. Ee releted that on one occasion recently, while hie mother was visiting @ relative at the Spear domicile, she heard a shuffling of feet , upstaira. He said that both he end hia mother are positive that the house is being used to harbor a fugitive or fugitives, or that bogus money, counterfeit bonds, or something of thet nature are being manufactured there. stated that he deemed it very unwise to raid the house in question, stating thet it would hemper him in his efforts to gain information regarding Galetas, and would undoubtedly re- act to the detriment of the Government in ita investigation in thie case. He expressed confidence in his ability to definitely determine whether Galatas is in or near Hot Springs. Agent Andersen then returned to Little Rock, Arkansas, after consulting with Krs. Parks and Ge. and upon conferring with me I decided 1t would be inadvisable for the best interests of the Division to make any open inquiry or raid at Hot Springs at this time. Eowever, I deemed it appropriate to proceed with Agents Andersen and liarshall to Eot Springs, Arkansas, in order that I might be able there to mke the aoquaintance of the in- formants who are cooperating confidentially with this office. Therefore, on December 18th with those two Agente I proceeded to Hot Springs where we interviewed Jim Polus, Willian Brandenberg, Dr. and Mrs. Parks ands ae 6vTHey impressed me as being sincere in their desire to cooperate with the Govern- ment and I believe that they will render every assistence possible, advised that Nat Ryan§fughea, an attorney; Ollie Yatkins, known ag the €Big Swede", a former policeman of Little Rock, and Henry@Ives, ell of Little Rock, are reported to be well acquainted with Galatas and his associates. fe suggested the possibility of using these individuals in the course of the
