CONSPIRACY TO DELIVER FEDERAL
PRISOVER
Dear Sir:
Pursuant to instructions from Mr. H. H. Clegg of the
Division, I called to see Kathryn-Kelly yesterday at the Federal
Devention Farm near Lilen, Michigan. I discussed. with her at some
length the feasibility; of transferring Vi-tiathis to the Detention
Farz, and she said that she believed thet/if she and Vi Mathis are
kept together for a period of tine, she can get the true story of
the Kansas City massacre. She remarxed that she and Vi Mathis had
formerly been very close friends azd at one time occupied an apart-
ment together.
irs. Kelly suggested that Vi Methis be transferred with
women who are not intimately acquainted with her. She advised against
transferring Bobbielf‘oore, saying that if Bobbie Moore came to the
Detertion Farm, it would be detrimental to her efforts to secure in-
formation, es the Moore woman and Vi Mathie are real good friends
and natureily would make confidantes of each other. When Vi Mathis
is transferred to the Detention Farm, ltrs. Kelly sugeests that no one
from the Division call to see her for fear of arousing the suspicion
of the iathis waman. She said thet after.she has secured information,
she will send a note to Special agent in Charge Larson at Detroit
through tze Superinterdent of the Eome in order thet she may be inter-
viewed. She stated that Vi Mathis is a very shrewd woman and would
undoubtedly become auspicious if Federal agents called to see her,
irs. Kelly, very ofter.
