mentioned information. ‘he Chicago Office is, of course, familiar
with the identities of Hagen and Evans, wo have been interviewed
several times by Special Agent in Charge Purvis, It would not be
edvieable at this time to approach Chief of Detectives Tom Higgins, -
at Kansaa Ciéy, for any information of this neture due to the eziat-
ing ecircunstances in Kansas City.
Recently, while interviewing kra. Lottie test, one of the
wi messes to the massacre, Special Agent Ne Fe Trainor displayed,
among other photogrephs, that of Charles J. Fitagereld mentioned _
berein, andi Mre. West was noticeably impressed with the features of
the mane She stated that they ebsolutely resembled one of the men whon
she saw with a machine gun, although the age of the man in question
she believed to be not more than 40 years, or possibly as young as
25. For thet reason ber identification was somewhat discounted.
She steted that the mar in question moved with a very active step
and did not appear t be an olé man, The information fas furnished
to Agent Andersen by Eddie Doll thet Charles J, Pitzgereld, known —
ae "Old Fitz", is unusually agile and active for a man of his years, —
and poaseases all of the activi ty end agility of © man of middle age.
It ie noted fran the criminal record of Charlies J. Fitzgerald
shown in letter fran this office February 16, 1924, that Charles
Fi tzgereld served a term in the United States Penitentiary, Atlanta,
Georgia.s It is believed possible thet Yarden Aderhold, at Atlenta,
would recall the contecta and friends of Fitzgerald, A complete
esearch of hia file in the United States Penitentiary, atlenta, should
be mide for all pertinent information o tainable, —
It may be noted here that while the report has been current <
that "Big Homer“ served in the United States Penitentiary, Leavenworth,
Kansas, 1t hes not been possible to identify a record of that indi-~
vidual at said institution, and therefore there is a probability that
he could bave served in the United Statea Penitentiary at Atlanta,
Since he ie known to be a close friend of Charles J. Fitzgerald, some
information in this connection might be secured from Warden Aderhold.
Convict George Zelley et the United States Fenltentiery,
Lesvenvorth, Kunsss, was 6150 shown the photograph of Charles J,
Fitzgerelé eppearing in the Bankera Journal, and advised Agent Ancersen
thet the photocsreph is not a good likeness of him at present since he
nox appears much ol¢er, more wrinkled end grey, but that he still could
identify 1t as the photograph of the party kmown os "014 Fits",
