‘wherein you state th:t the Parole Board has requested infornstion
concerning the case of LLOYD BARKFR, No. 17342-L, and you inquire
es to whether investigation by this Division hes brought out any
facts prejudicial to Barker.
Please be acvieed that during the investigation of the
Brener kicnaping cease this Division has received considerable in- .
formation concerning the family of Lioyd Barker, Tuere is attached,
hereto, for your confidentisl information a mimeographed copy of a
mezorandum dsted Februcry 21, 1934 setting forth information concern-
ing the eo~celled Berker-Karjis gang. You will note thet the mother,
Mre. Katherine Barker, better known as “Hother*® Berker, accompanies
her sons, Arthur R. and Fred Barcer, and aide and ebets in thelr
crininel activities. The criminal records of the members of this
geng are set forth at the end of the attached memorandum and this
Division is presently engaged wnoon an intensive search for all the
individuals nazed in the sevorandus,
Of course, Licyd Barker has been incarcerated in the Oni ted
Etates Penitentisry, Lecvenvorth, Kaneas since Janucry 16, 1922, for
the crime of robbing the United States Balls and, therefore, it has
not been possible for him to be a participant vith his brothers, Arthur
R. and Fred Barker, end their aseociates in this kidnapin; case and
severel other crimes of major laportance in which they ere involved.
finis Division is preeently looking into the parole of Arthur
R. Barker, for it apresrs thot, while in different sections of the
country engaged upon criminal activitier, monthly parole reporte pur-.
porting to have been prepered and signed by him have been received
regulerly by the Parole Officer at Uchlester, Oklahoma, always furnish-
ing the adcrecs of tie father, George FE. Barker, Poet Office Box 174,
Neocho; Missouri. Under date of Februcry 15, 1934, an additisnal
gusrly of blank forms for parole renorts was requested and it is
suspected thet the fether has been preparing and submitting these
reports on behalf of his son.
