CG 87-40596 On November 4, 1974, after a two day jury trial, before U.S. District Court Judge RICHARD B. AUSTIN, Northern District of Illinois (NDI), Chicago, Illinois, ADOLPH LEWIN was found guilty on two count violation of Title 18, Section 2314, U.S. Code. These counts concerned LEWIN's possession of stolen jewelry of the Hammond Company, San Antonio, Texas, and LEE LIBERACE's watch, which items were taken in Separate burglaries in Dallas, Texas, in February, 1974, At that time, U.S. District Court, Judge AUSTIN set December 17, 1974, for sentencing of LEWIN. On December 2, 1974, U.S. Department of Justice Attorney GREGORY WARD advised that to date he has not re- ceived any indication as to whether or not LEWIN plans any additional legal action concerning his convictions. On December 17, 1874, the subject appeared before U.S. District Court Judge RICHARD B. AUSTIN, Northern District of Illinois (NDI), Chicago, Illinois. At that time, LEWIN was sentenced to the custody of the Attorney General for a period of five years, on each of the tyo counts, which sentences were to run concurrently. Judge AUSTIN further ordered the imposition of these sentences suspended and Placed LEWIN on probation for a period of five years of which he is to be incarcerated for the first 177 days. - Judge AUSTIN, at that time, also ordered the execution of this sentence stayed until January 3, 1975. BIC On January 6, 1975, Deputy Marshal Chicago, Illinois, advised that LEWIN's stay has been con- tinued until January 17, 1975, On January 13, 1975, U.S. Department of Justice Attorney, GREGORY WARD advised that he has received no information which would indicate LEWIN plans an appeal in these matters. Departmental Attorney WARD further advised that it is his understanding LEWIN will be incarcerated in the U.S. Penitentiary, Marion, Illinois. S
