LILLIAN HELLMAN was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, June 20,
1905, 8 descendent of MAX B. HELIVAN and JULIA (NEWHOUSE) HELLMAN; she re-
7 ceived her education at New York University and Columbia Tniversity. She
married ARTHUR KOBER but was later divorced from him, During the years 1924
end 1925 she was employed with HORACE LIVESRIGHT INCORPORATED, publishers
4 New York Citye From 1925 to 1928 she was a book reviewer for the New Tork
Herald Tribune. From the period 1927 to 1938 she was also a theatrical play
' reader. She hes been a writer eince 1925 and @ acenario writer since 1935,
She fs a member of the Screen Writers Guild, Dramatists Guild, and the league
of American Writerse She is the author of "Children's Hour", 1934; "Daya
to Come", 1935; "Little Foxes", 1939; and "Watch on the Rhine", 1941. She
has dramatized for motion pictures “Dark ingel*, 19353 “These Three*, 1935—
1936s "Dead End*, 1937; ami "Little Foxes", 1940, Her addrese was listed as
