I am in receipt of your letter dated
February 1, 1959. ‘In response to your request, I
wish to advise that information in the files of
the Federal Bureau of Investigation is confidential
and available for official use only. J know you
will understand the reason for this rule and will
not infer either that we do or that we do not have
the data you desire.
I am at liberty, however, to advise that
the investigation of ynidentified Slying objects
igs not within the jurisdiction of this Bureau. This
matter is of primary interest to the Department of
the Air Porce and, accordingly, J am sending a copy
of your letter to the Director of Special Investigations,
The Inspector General, Department of the Air Force,
Building Tempo B, 4th and Adame Drive, 5. Ws,
Washington, D. C., to whom you may desire to direct
further inquiries in this matter.
