New York County in 1934 and that an investigation covering this
adoption was conducted by*FRANK P, RENNERT’ on December 7, 1954.
The file also contained a letter from Mrs, Ethel Wakefield of the
American Red Cross dated March 27, 1957. This letter indicated
that Mrs. Buchalter was living at 25 Central Park West and that
an investigation had been conducted by the Red Cross at the
suggestion of the Veterans Administration, Mre Clark explained
that this investigation was conducted by the Red Cross to determine
whether the minor child was receiving the full benefits of the
money deposited by his guardian in trust for him. The file further
reflected that Mrs. Buchalter was under a 24000, bond covering her
guardianship, this bond being neld by ths Fidelity and Deposit
Compeny c. Maryland, 16 Court Sirset, Brookiyn, Ne Ye
At the American Nea Cross, 515 Lexington Avenue,
New York City, Mrs. Ethel Wakefield, in charge of tne nome service,
was interviewed and she allowed the reporting agent to review the
file covering the investigations conducted by the American ked
Cross in reference to Mrs, Betty Wasserman Buohalter, This Tile
indicated that several attempts were made to interview lirs. Buchaker

was interviewed by the Red Cross at her apartment at 25 Central Park
West. This interview indicated that the minor son was obtaining all
the benefits from the money devosited in trust for him, At the
time of the interview iirs, Buchalter had made a request of the Red
Cross in reference to an insurance policy held by the New York Life
Insurance Company on the life of her deceased hushand and the Red
Cross had agreed to make further investigations concerning this
policy but since that time the Red Cross has béen unable to contact
Mrse Buchalter, a letter. addressed to ner on Cetober 11, 1957 at 25
Central Park West having been returned to the Red Cross marked,
"Addressee moved, no forwarding address",
Both Mre James A, Clark of the Veterans Adminis<ration
and Mrse Ethel Wakefield of the American Red Cross stated that the
files in their offices concerning this metter woulé te spen for review
any time by Agents of this Bureau,
