SUMMARY OF INFORMATION:
The following information was related to Counter Intelligence Corps
Personnel at Headquarters Fifteentn Air Force, Colorado Sprin,s, Colorado on
27 June 1947 oy Mr D. A. hauser, 24 North Chesnut Street, Colorado Springs
Colorado, Mr. F. J. Smitx, 24 rairview, Manitou Springs, Colorado and Mr. L.
D. Jamison, 24l5 iiest Kiowa, Colorado Sprin_s, Colorado. All three of the
men are empolyees of the Pixes Peak kailvry, Manitou Springs, Colorado.
"On or about 19 say 1947 during their lunch period (121.-1315) a mem-
ber of a train crew called attention to a silver object in tiie sky a; proachin
from ti.e Nortn East. It appeared to Le travelli:n, at a great speed. All
three men stated that the altitude of the object was very difficult to deter-
mine because of its apparent smallness. They further sta'ed that because of
this it was difficult to view the object as being large and naving high
altitude or small and being at a relatively low altitude. They did say though
that it appeared to be higher than the top of Manitou Mountain which is over
1000 feet higher than tne shops which are situated at its base. No definace
s..ape of the object could be determined and even witn tie aid of binvculars it
still could not be brought into focus. The binoculars used were of about 4 to
6 power. The men stated that they were cer ain that the cbject did not have
any of tne physical characteristics of modern conventional aircraft.
The day was discribed as being clear aid sunny witn not a cloud in the
sky andamo ground wind.
On reaching tne area just North of Manitou Moutain the object remained
in tne immediate area for several.minutes during which time it was seen to
execute manuvers such as climbi:g, divin; end reversal of direction of fli;ht.
This happened every few seconds. The distance and location between views
prompted two of the men to think that there, were more of ‘he unidentified
objects in the sky. At times the object seemed to hoveer in tne air and then
start on another path of flijht. When last seen tie silver object was climo-
in, very fast towards the West almost directly into the wind.
