Information regarding this sighting taken from a letter of Oscar Nomnig addressed to Mr A, Schroeder of Abilene, Texas, in regard to Mr Schroeder's query regarding a phenomena he wftne.-ed the night of 1 Jan 48 at approximately 125 A. M. and agnin at 1: A. &, Odject wis described ag a fem-shaped glow wich originated from a large bell om the horizon and wich exteniod to the meriiian due west of Abileme, “Texas, in a perfectly clear sky, Phenomena «~s of © secomis duration. Five mimtes later it wa seen agnin for the same length of time. Bo sound was heard. Mr Monnig thought the phenosena could possibly be attributed to: (1) Disturbance of on @lectric:1 ey such ss transforzers blowifg out, or (2) Experiments at White Seni« froving Groun:s which are due weet of Abilhe, NOTe: I iry at ‘iolloman Af Buse, Alamagordo, N. ¥., ry 2 revealed that research work at night and on suncays does not involve the use of any li ting tevice or flares such as described in the var ious reports submitted.
