his new group at a rally scheduled for June 28, 1964, and
would call it Organization of Afro-American Unity.

aed The basic aim of the new group is to lift the whole Negro
os freedom struggle from civil rights to “human righte" and
ae to work with any other organization and any other leader
toward that end.
At a MI rally held on June 28, 196h, in New
York City, MALOOL X announced the formation of the OAAU.
He also stated that he would be the chairman of this
organization .
He also announced that any Negro could join
the OAAU by paying @ membership fee of $2.00 and there-
after making a donation of 1,00 per week.
