C APPENDIX & LUSLIN MOSQUS, INCORPORATED (20NT) man The March 13, 1964, edition of "Tas New York Times, a daily newspaper publi shed in New York, New York, contained an article on page 20 which indicated that MALCOL! x (LITTLE), forner national official of the Nation of Islam (NOI) who broke with the NOI on March 8, 1964, publicly announced in Kow York City om March 12 1984, that he had formed the Muslim Losque, Incorporated (MMI), The MUI, according to the article would be a bro2dly based politically oriented black nationalist novenent for Negress only, finaaced by voluntary contributions, In this public statement MALCOLM ZX urged Negroes to abandon the doctrine of nonm-violezce when it is necessary to defend themselves in the civil rights struggle, and he also suggested tnat Nerroes form rifle clubs to protect their lives and property in tine of emergencies in areas where the government is unable or unwilling to protect then, Incorporation papers of the MMI filed on March 16, 1964, with the Business Section, Clerk of Courts, New York County, New York, New York, reflect that the Mii was incorporated under the Relisicus Corporation Law of the State of Now York to work for the imparting o2 the Islamic Faith and Islamic Religion in accorcince with "accepted Islamic prirncip2ls," The principal place of worsnip to be located in the Borough of Manhattan, New York, New York, Tne May 23, 1964, edition of the "Nsw York Ansterdan _Xews," a _weekly Negro newspaper published in Now York City, contained an article by columnist JALES BOOZER in waich he indicated that he had heard that the visit by MALCOLM K with Muslim leaders during his African tour has chanved him to become soft in his anti-white feelings ard to become more religious, On October 6, 1964, a confidential source advised that the IZ! is apparently affiliated with the torus oothadox -Is lamic Relitioa through its ait -liation with | the Tslanic Foundation (of New York), 1 Riversids Drive, hew Yor City.
