T-3 further advised that MAMEDOV and his wife

TRASBURG. Mrs. BOWERS said that STRASBURG was an
important individual in the New York theater world and
if at all possible, the MAMEDOVs should attend. In
any event, Mrs. BOWERS told MAMEDOV that he should go
ONROE would be present. The informant stated that

MAMEDOV indicated he was going to the West Coast, and
did not know whether he would be available for this

On May 15, 1957, T~3 advised that si GouNson,
Director of the World Affairs Council, Seattle, Washington,
told MAMEDOV that his group would attempt to schedule --
MAMEDOV for an appearance on their program during the ~
last half of June or early part of July, 1957. MAMEDO
advised JOHNSON that he desired the council have a
specific time for him to appear before he could
arrange a trip to the West Coast. JOHNSON, according
to the informant, agreed to attempt to set jup a more
specific date for MAMEDOV's appearance. e
MAMEDOV that the,+World Affairs Council was intrigued
with the idea of MAMEDOV's appearance on a program,
but they felt this was "a bit touchy." The Council
felt it would be better if they could have MAMEDOV's
counterpart fron. the magazine "Amerika" con the same
program. The informant stated that MAMEDOV had no
objection to this, and they agreed to keep each other
advised on develop ents regarding MAMEDOV's appearance

wt of Newark, New Jersey, (informed MAMEDOV]that he
was interested in impressing American undergraduates (U)
with the finesse demonstrated by gymnasts at the Olympic
games. The informant stated that HOPFING described
himself as Vice-President of the New Jersey Committee
for Health and Physical Education Development,
Incorporated, and had also been present at CB Ya
\HOPPING of the “New Jersey, Lumber and Timber Compary,
Olympic games, serving as a swimming judge.
