While talking with Mr. Hood of the Los Angeles Office
at the above time he stated that Marlene Dietrich is leaving so
time tomorrow, anperently around one o'clock. with a group of othér
ey ectors who will make one night stands in conjunction with the sale of
‘Sar Savings Bonds, Ir. Hood stated thet liable Walkerk¥illebrandt has
gem cee’. interviewed and that she hes absolutely no informetion as a basis
gfor any possible espionage activities on the part of Marlene Dietrich,
Miss Willebrandt is the attorney for Jean}Gabin, Gabin is living with
Dietrich at the present time end Dietrich controls all of his activities
and opinions. Willebrandt is apparently endeavoring to iron out Gabin's
status with the State Department and hes requested to be advised what
we have on Gabin. Because of Dietrich's control over Gabin, Liss
“illebrandt hes reported her activities to us. Er. Hood stated that the
foregoing information wes transmitted to the Bureau by teletype yesterday.

Mr. Hood does not believe it would be desirable for us to main-

~tomorrow, since there would be no way to hide the fact that a surveillance
was being conducted and since she will not have any opportunity to engage in
espionage activities, and he recomnends against such surveillance. om
