Ae 61-252 ser 45, which case is entitled: "NEWS-LETTERS", that in a News-Lette Bsue of June 12, 1940 (News-Letter is a publicatio fo published by the News Research, Inc., 7046 od Boulevard, Los Angeles), are a photograph and short etatement reproduced from the German~published Sturmer which reads as follows: cannes ces E ° et & 3 "Reproduction from the ‘Stuermer!, (a) captioned "MARLENE DIETRICH Taking Oath of Allegiance!; (b) Famous film star becomes American citizen. She is siom here together with Los Angeles naturalization official, (c) Film actress, MARLENE DIETRICH, born in Germany, has spent so many years with the moving picture Jews of Hollywood that she now has become an Ameri- can citizen. Mingling with Jews has completely de-Germanized her. This picture shows her taking the oath of allegiance in Los Angeles. What the Jewish 'judge' (STUERMER'S emphasis) himself thinks of the prescribed oath becomes evident from his attitude; shirt-sleeved (1)(STUERMER'S emphasis), ; he administers the oath by which MARLENE DIETRICH betrays her fatherlend.® At the present time Subject is carrying on what is locally described . a "terrific love affair" with JEAN GABIN, the new French film star, who recently completed the picture "Moon-Tide" at 20th Century Fox. Stuibea. GARIN is the Subject. of Los Angeles file 100-6792, which is in a closed status. It °°? suffices to mention here that GABIN had been reported as being pro-Vichy because 4 he refused to align himself with other French stars publicly going all-out for. : Free France. However, investigation has failed to reflect that he is engaged in-any un~American activities or in any way actively aiding the Vichy governments .
