Dear Mr. Ray:
In May of 1976 the Attorney General of the Unite?
States crested a task force for th: purpose of reviewing
the FaI's investigation of tha assassination of
Dr. Martin luther King, Jr.
The task force is now in the process o f windies up
its inquiry before guinmitting a final report to tt
Attorney General. However, we feel that oun Lequiey will
not bs corplete unless wa give you an opoertimity to state
your varticipation, or lack of participation, in the
mirder of Dr. King.
Accordingly, we hereby request, through your attorney,
Jomes H. Lesar, Esquire, your consent to an interview by
meroers of the task force. If you should agree to talk
to us, our tire schedulc requires us to arrange for the
interview to take place not later than Decenber 31, 1976.
Please let us know inmoadiately whether you desire
to be interviewed.
