that the -oorish Science (not Shrine) Temple of America was or-
bie ganized during I@T at Newark, I.J. by ohe hoble Brew Ali; that Ali
was head of the American orranization from 1913 until his death in
1929. Bey claims that he hes been heaa of the Mocrish Science
Tervle of America since 1929, ard thet his official title is Supreme
Grand Governor; that the organization has "Yer;les" in seventeen
different cities throughout the United States, including Cleveland,
Ohio, liilwaukee, Vise, Richuond and horfolk, Va., Chicago, Ille, and
Baltimore, lid., and that the organization is not represented in the
cities of ew York and Fhiladelphia.

various temples held regujar meetings for registration and orgeniza-
tion purposes. Eovever, since 1930 no meetings heve been held and
it is the present policy of the orzeanizetion to hold no meetings
and their work is sufposed to be carried on individually, and any
bye instructions or information concerning the organization are passed
among the teubers by vord of month. He advised that it was ma@rely
asc matter of policy that recnler meetings had been discontinued,
bet would not eleborete on the real reason for the discontinuance of
such meetines. le stated that at the time the recular organization
meetings were discontinued in 1930 the Licorish Science Temple of
america had 32,000 enrolled members. Ee apparently has no record

Gey advised acon ED vie: the Moorish
Seience Tenrle of America is a part of a world wide organization.
Hovever, he would not enlarge upon this atatement or furnish further
informetion concerning the countries in which the organization exists,
or where international headquarters, if any, might be located. He
advised that the netional headeuarters of the American organization
are located in Chicago, Ill., at 5505 Indiana Avenue.

according to Bey, the purpose of the organiza-
tion is to recover the birthright of the Moors, which was taken from
them in 1779 (he could not explain by whom), and to enable them to
again govern their own country of Morocco, and be knom as “hicors."
bie He denied that it is a religious, politicgl or fraternal orgenizmtion,
and could not explain further just what type of order the Moorish
Science Temple is supposed to be. He thet he is not a negro,
but a descendant of the lioors, Agen advises that Bey has all
of the avcearance and characteristics of a full blooded nesro.
