organisation at Kansas City, was said to have broken amay
fron the national association in about 1935. The organisation was at one
time very active and in 1936 er 1937 had approximately 500 menbers. ‘the
genbership subsequently dwindled, possibly because of the death of
Mohrmmued Bey. ‘This organisation differed frou the Netional Moorish Beleoe
feaple chiefly in that it prohibited sale members froe shaving and required
then to weer red feases at all times. There were also other requirements
as to dreas, particularly ef the ween. Fifteen menbers ef this cult were
arrested on July 24, 1942, for violations of the Selective Training and
Service Act of 1940. Two were released immediately as they were net within
the age limits prescribed by the Act. Seven of thes, Winifred Boyd Bey,
Jr., Winifred Boyd Bey, Sr., Roy Lee Boyd Bey, Otha Moiese Bey, Paul Jackson
Hl, Lensie David Bey and John Hunter El, were convicted in the Dnited States
District Court at Kansas City and were each sentenced on January 15, 1943,
to teras of four years and to pay a fine of §1,000, The remaining persons
arrested were released on October 24, 1942, hy order of the Attorney General.
