Building. He examined his records and files and advised that he found poe
record of the Moorish Science Temple of America.

of State, was contacted at her office in the State Capitol Building. She
examined the office files on corporation matters and advised that there
WAs no record of the Moorish Science Temple of America or of a corporation
under any similar name. ;
AT PING BLUFF, ARKANSAS:
Sheriff, Jefferson County, was interviewed
at hie office in the County Courthouse. He advised that helmes of no
organization or church in Pine Bluff operating under the name of Moorish
Science Tample of Amarica..

colored deputy sheriff of Jefferson County, was
contacted in the county jail. He advisad that he knew of no church or
organization in that vicinity under the name Moorish Sclence Temple of
America, Inc. He did say, however, that there were same colored people
in Pine Bluff who wore beards and called themselves Mohammedans. He
Stated that he did not know where they held their meetings, nor what days
or nights they meet. He further advised that there ware not very many .
of those people in Pine Bluff, but he was unable to give any estimate of
approximately how many there were.
Jefferson County, was wig’ r office in the Armory Building.
She advised that there were approximately 20 persons listed in their files
under the name BEY and EL. Shs advisod alse that the beard had not experienced
any difficulty with any of the persons listed under those names with regard
to their draft status orinduction into the army. The only difficulty the
board experienced was in listing the parties under the names BEY and EL.
All the persons using those names insistod that they be listed_as Orientals
rather than negroes and that BEY and EL were their correct last names.

one under tho name KET and one under ths name EL, but that he refused to
