He was unable to identify the woman in the photograph and said he did not know whether or not MORRIS COHEN had ever been married, He caid he remembered COHEN as weighing about 250 pounds. He believed that he had gone to school in Mississippi and had done some coaching. He knew of no close friends of COHEN'S though he stated COHEN was very gvegauriousg and knew everyone. om “seemed to recall a ‘letter that had been received from some individual in the varsity haw club to the effect that MORRIS COHEN had attempted to bat) kill himself because he was despondent, When as specify the date that this might have happened, stated that 1t would have been sometime in 1049 or early 1950 subsequent to the tine GT ha come to Ca lforntia, A photog wags displayed to “the photograph © Ine was certainly. that o gn it appeared as 9 he had lost a lot of weight since the time that bid one:::. him, He also said that it seemed to him that ndividual in the photograph had purposely tried ta - He was asked concerning the name denied that he knew of thia name. no information had ever come to hia ention that MORRIS COHEN had been in any way un-American, He said he would be very surprised to hear that he had ever been a member of the Communist Party, a member of the - Abraham Lincoln Brigade, or have worked for the Soviet Pavilion at the New York World Fair.
