According to atyarticle appearing in the "Light" magazine on February 26,
1927, WILLA; KENS, Field Representative of the NAACP toured Russia
and wrote articles concerning his experiences there. The following article
appeared in the Seattle enterprise on February 4, 1927 with a New York
date line of February 3, 1927:
"Also have Jews been received by the NAACP, 69 Fifth Avenue fram
WILLIAM FICKENS, Field Secretary of the NAACP who has visited
Russia or his European lecture tour.
“Among the Russian leaders kr. PICKENS has conferred with are
KALININ, sisters of Trotsky and Lenin, and prominent editors. He
reports that the 'Fire in the Flint' by WALTER WHITE and 'Bursting
Bonds' ana 'The Vengeance cf the Gods' by Mr. PICKENS himself are
to be translated into Russian and perhaps put on the stage as well
