Details: The\National..organization for Women, (NOW),...733,15th
Street.,...NW,_Washington;-B.C»has received two typewritten
letters, postmarked 01/27/2001 (from Columbia, South Carolina) b6
and 02/26/2001 (from Atlanta, Georgia), which are threatening in b7C
nature. It is believed that the letters were sent from the same
person or group, as they are similar in nature and content.
In the letter postmarked 01/27/2001, the writer warns
that NOW, "is offensive to Islam and [presumably NOW membership]
may be killed if you do not change or stop your Gperations." The
letter gives a deadline of April 15th "to change." In the letter
postmarked 02/26/2001, the writer refers to the "Sons of Islam"
being outraged because NOW has not "heeded [previous] warnings."
The letter further threatens that "You will soon become
sacrifices to Allah!" Both letters end with "BANG!"
Both letters were sent to the FBIHQ Labora
processing. The Questioned Document Unit's Examiner be
completed the examinations on both letters and envelopes. Both bic
letters are now at the Latent Print Unit awaiting examination.
A check of FBI ACS revealed Minneapolis closed case 9A-
MP-44584 referenced the "Sons of Islam." In the, Minneapolis
case, a threatening letter was sent to b6
after he acted as in a controversi case in whic b7C
