Ray Smith, Burbenk, Oklahama, stated Mr. Howard (attorney) had paid him
$25.00 for same purpose and promised to make further statement later. It will be
noted that this is me and the seme Ray Smith that Mr. Howard, defense attomey, had
talked to and arranged with to testify falsely at previous trial and Smith mede state-
ment thet what Howard wanted him to testify to was false,
Mrs, Curley Johnson, Ripley, Oklahoma, should be interviewed again with
reference to time she returned from Ripley, Oklahane, to Denoya, Okleham, in January,
1923,
Agent has spent considerable time in locating Government witnesses and
trying to establish whereabouts of Curley Johnson in January, 1925; also watching
movements of defense attorneys and friends, all of which Agent has kept Sac F. J.
Blake fully advised by letters which are made part of the Oklahoma City file.
