Pe ht) a i rd cote aba ar RE 10n-1A C 20 Ui enosestye BOOTH SCORE ‘IN CONCERT *# “PAUL ROBESON and ALAN BOOTH, his Seattle accompanist and guest artist, scored a musical triumph at a summer concert in the Eagles Auditorium Aug 6, Although competing with the many public Seafair activities the concert drew an audience of 700. "The concert was the Seattle debut of Booth as 8 concert pianist. To the obvious delight of ROBESON the audience gave kim ovation after ovation. In addition to such standard concert numbers as a Beethoven soncta and a Chopin ballad, which gave music lovers an opportunity to compare techniques with pianists ranging from Liberace to Paderewsii, BOOTH introduced several new program items including a Chinese suite and three African dances. “As in previous concerts the audience was satisfied with no fewer than a half dozen encores ending with ‘JOE HILL', ROBESON the actor blended with ROBESON the singer in the powerful prayer and death excerpt from . Moussorgsky's opera 'Boris Godunov'. ROBESON is acheduled to sing the title role of 'Boris Godunov! in Europe if and when he gets his passport. *ROBRSON spent more then a week in Seattle conferring with commmity leaders, On Saturday at a trade union conference in the AFL Shipscaler's Hall a continuations committee to help in the passport campaign was set up." On August 7, 1951, a reception was held for PAUL ROBESON at the Shipscaler's Drydock and Miscellaneous Workers Union, AFL, 2221 Third Avene, Seattle, Wash, Prior to ROBESON'S arrival at the reception the Civil Rights Congress circulated petitions among those in attendance. RORESON sang several songs and between songs wid coment on different international and local matters.
