10/10/55 requeating review of subject's passport file for
purpose of identifying subject's legal and/or mailing address,

several months and is unavailable for review at this time,
R. W. SCOTT MC LEOD, it is noted, is the Administrator, Bureau of
Security and Consular Affairs, Department of State.
Also, on 10/19/55 Mr. ASELEY J. NICHOLAS, ‘Acting —
Chief, Passport Legal Division, Passport Office, Department of
State, advised that there ia nothing particularly significant
pending in ROBESON's case at this time. NICHOIAS said aithough
he does not have the file available to check, he recalled that
on about 10/1/55 the subject requested permission to visit
Chine for the purpose of attending some conference. NICHOLAS
added that shortly thereafter the Passport Office sent a
letter to LEONARD B, BOUDIN, New York City, attorney of the
subject, denying the subject's request. NICHOLAS said that to
his knowledge there were no more recent developments in the
