APPENDIX LOS ANGELES COMMITTEE TO SECURE JUSTICE FOR MORTON SOBELL, aka, Los Angeles Sobell Committee, Los Angeles Committee to Secure Justice in the Rosenberg Case, Los Angeles Rosenberg-Sobell Committee. / An informant advised on May 22, 1956,“that the Los Angeles Committee to Secure tte ioe Ae Morton Sobell, which was formerly known as the Los Angeles Committee to Secure Justice in the Rosenberg Case and also referred to as the Los Angeles Rosenberg-Sobell Committee, adopted its present name (tos Angeles Committee to Secure Justice for Morton Sobell) about August, 1954, The avowed purpose of this Committee is to have MCRTON SOBELL trans- ferred from the Federal Prison on Alcatraz Island and to se~ cure for him a new trial and eventually his complete release, v Both the Los Angeles Committee to Secure Justice in the Rosenberg Case and the Los Angeles Committee to Secure Justice for Morton Sobell were, from their inception, dominated and controlled by the Los Angeles County Communist Party through the assignment of Communist Party (CP) members to work on the Committees and to direct the activities of the Committeee, In March, 1956, critical discussion by CP members was that the Los Angeles Committee to Secure Justice for Morton Sobell shovid be reactivated and revitalized in a more aggressive way than it had been in the past and that 4tsa activities should be expanded in terms of according maximum mobilization of forces to insure attainment of its objectives.
