According to the Daizy Peovle's Vorld, this appearance was for the benefit of the Spanish Refugee mo ~ Appeal of the subject organization. ROBZSON's appearance in tho Bay area drew . oo: the usual publicity from the Dally People's “orld and some publicity from the ) _ San Francisco “hrenicle and the San Francisco News, the latter two being “ legitimate daily newspapers. ROBLSON is quoted in the Chronicle for Septexber 9, 1947, as follows: "Spain today should te a danver signal to Americans that Fascist philosophy still exists."..."But there are many forces in the United States that fecl Franco is not so bad." . s, The San Francisco Kews published RO&“SOR's .icture alonr with that of ~ __ ANTON RUPRIGIGR, mural painter presently working at the Rincen Post Office in _ San Francisce. R2FRSGIER has been associated with Communist activities during y bis satay in San Francisco. The News quoted ROBSON as follows: ., ~\ "ur. At ROBESON's appearance at the Rincon Post Office, he was accaczpanied by representatives of the Spanish Refugee Appoal who sought publicity for refugees from the Spanish Government. 2RORESON was further quoted: "You should see those people.
