Souncil at the Golden Gate Bell Room, 12 Street and Lenox Averiue, New York
City. The informant statedthat the meeting was called "Labor Salutes the
Negro People Rally. According to the informant, ROBESON had been a
speaker at the rally and, according to the informant, ROBESON, in his
speech, called for the liberation of the eleven convicted Commimists and
asked for full support of the Harlem Trade Union Council and its fight for
a place in labor for Negro people. .
The New York "Daily Mirror” issue of March 24, 1950 reported
that ‘Federal Judge CONGER yesterday restrained PAUL ROBESON, the Civil
Rights Congress, and others from proceeding with their $2,000,000 damage
suit against Westchester officiais until the Grand Jury there has completed
its investigation of the riots near Peekskill: last sumer.
