SE 106-1820 . Confidential Informant Seattle QM of inom reliability, in November, 1947, attended a publicly announced meeting of the Seattle Joint Anti-Fascist Refugee Committee held at the Moore Theater in Seattle. this meeting took the form of a court af public opinion. Informant stated that JACK KINZELL was the presiding judge of this court. The trial impliedly attacked Policies of the United States government particularly ss related to witnesses before the House of Representatives Committee on Un-American Activities. The Joint Anti-Fascist Refugee Conmmittes has been held by the Attorney General to be within the purview of Executive Order 9835. Confidential informant Seattle Waeported in aa ts JANES McDANIELS was then a member of the Communist Party. Seattle QR reported. McDANIELS in. attendance at a meeting sponsored by the Ciwil Rights Congress and beld at Seattle, on ocure: The Vivil Nights Congress also has bean xald by the Attorney General of the United States to be within the purview of Executive Order 9835, reported that paid admissions to the PAUL, ROBESON concert held at the Civic duditerlum on the evening of May 20 totaled 1,723, of which about ten to twelve per cent were Negroes. No heckling or other disturbance of any kind otcurred. PAUL ROBESON was aecompanied at the plano by 3 LAWAENOSMSHOWN, The persons speaking from the platform during the intermission were Leste CATLETY and JAMES MeDANIELS. The latter asked for money contributions to be placed in envelopes distributed throughout the auditorium. A total of about $500 was collected in these envelopes. Included in ROBESON's program were the songs "Water Boy", "Old Han Biver", and another which apparently related to the Loyalist war in Spain. AOBESON, during the concert, spoke briefly to the audience and commented that the people in the Northwest had demonstrated that he. could not be stopped in his fight for "freedom of song*, Confidential Informant Seettie TB of kmown reliability, who also attended the May 20 concert, reported that ROBESON, before singing Wid Nan River", announted that the song was dedicated by him to WILLIE a
