1549. THis meeting was sponsored by the washington Bookshop Association,
Nationsl Pommittee to Defeat the MUNDT Bill, and the Sivil Rights Uongresse
The meetibe was held to raise funds to be used in the defense of the eleven
Communist fParty leaders being tried under the SMITH Act. Following the speeches ,
GEORGE BMEURPHY, Jr., national officer of the UNAVA announced that in
furtherance ef their activities all these present should attend the meeting
scheduled for dune 16, 19149, at Laborers Hall, 525 New Jersey Avenue, Washington,
