Teg eo The following references set out information regarding Pearl boO- Buck in connection with the Nationalist Party of Puerto Rico (NPPR) from March to October, 4, 1944. During March of 1944 Miss Buck was in contact with Pedro Albizu Campos, President of the NPPR, in NYC. Subsequent to her visit with Campos, she had visited . in WDC with Mrs. Franklin D. Roosevelt regarding the various phases f of Campos' case. Campos had been sentenced to serve 6 years in the US Penitentary at Atlanta, Ga. for conspiracy to overthrow the US Government by force. Miss Buck had promised Campos to intervene in his behalf with persons in high positions as was necessary to secure his release, Re eee eee De mh On 10/10/44, Miss Buck, along with a group of Americans, organized the National Committee for the Independence of Puerto Rico in NYC.
