year 1933-1934 NIXON was student body president and enjoyed
an unprecedented popularity among the students as well as
among the faculty members of the college.

dent. body president of Whittier College he was named as 4
delegate to the National Convention of College Student Body
Officers, at which convention he also distinguished himself;
further, thet. his nephew had been a close associate of this ‘D
epplicart, they having participated together on college de- LT:
bating teams. For this reason applicant frequently came to
his home and he had an opportunity of observing him there as
well. Upon this basis he states that applicant is a young
man of good habits, very discreet in his conduct, and a fine
young man in every respect.

a MEE, waselso interviewed. He, too, stated that applicant
is an outstanding leader ard mixes excellently. He stated
thet he believes applicant may properly be rated as one of
the best all-around students Whittier College ever had; that
he ig possessed of unusually great energy and his only con-
cern is that applicant will overwork himself. He pointed out
in this connection that applicart had an older brother who
died of Tuberculosis, and ke has, therefore, cautioned ap~
tlicert repeatedly to not overwork lest he be afflicted with
the seme ailment. He informed that he knew applicant to be
& young man of unguestione2 habits and that he has a good |
