Wertheimer has been very succesful in the managment of the club and resobts to the payoff as a means of steying in business. Frequently his Club is raided, however he is usually tipped off in atva::ce by the Kjami Beach Police Yepirtnent, in the past the Sheriffs Office of Lade County when raiding the Club, is reputed to call the Miami Eeach Police, who then tip off the Club. t which In the Winter of 1988-25 this Club wac raided on one occassion at time there apparantly was not a tip off, by the Miami feach Police under the leadership of V7. C. Wichman, nor Ass't Chief of Police. Upon cal-ing Chief Yocun, apparantly his acticn was approved whereupon he so advised Vertheirer that he was going upstektrs, et this point Verthelzer tock the phone and ssid to Yocum, "Listen I am telling you what you can do and you ere going to tzke orcers from me", he then told %ichman to talk to Yocum, who called off the raid. This steward went to his room and secured the Gold Plated Pistol rhich forrerly belonged to 41 4cavone and returned sticking it in the boys stomach deranding that he produce the necklace and not sey a word about it. The steward then went to Wertheimer telling him that he had scared it out of the boy, and collected the reawrd which ran between $1500 and $2500, It is not kuown whether he ever split with the boy. - Wertheimer is reputed to be a power on tne Beach and in Florida and on one instance when gambling was shut dorm, secured Harry Richmond the entertainer who took several persons to call upon GovaSholtz in behalf of the Gambling int rests.
