SUBJECT: - TRAVEL OF THE ATTORNEY GENERAL The Attorney General's secretary telephoned and advised that she in turn has Just received a cail from the Attorney General who is in New York City. The Attorney General has canceled his scheduled appearance at Duke University late tomorrow, May 26, 1964. He will keep, however, his commitment at West Georgia _Coilege, Carrollton, Georgia, early Tuesday afternoon. The Attorney General is returning directly to Washington from Georgia and is scheduled to arrive at Andrews Air Force Base about 6:00 p. m. The Attorney General's secretary was unaware of the reason for the Attorney General advancing the time of his return to Washington. She said he had promised Duke University to reschedule his appearance there next fall. Within a short time after the call from the Attorney General's ' Office, ASAC Walters of the Charlotte Division advised information , had been received by our Senior Resident Agent at Durham, | North Carolina, from officials at Duke University that the Attorney |General's appearance there had been canceled. The Charlotte Division is therefore aware that the Attorney General will not be visiting in their territory tomorrow.
