This article concerns the disclosures by Solicitor General
Thurgood Marshall before the Supreme Court on 7-13-66 in which he reported ye
that the FBI, in planting electronic listening devices in some major criminal . “Ar

, The article relates that Marshall said the Departmental practice of authorizing B®
"eavesdropping'was in effect for a period of years prior to oe and it specifically

authorization and that this continued until June, 1965, when these devices we
prohibited by Presidential order. £
This is a good analysis of the issues involved in this controversy
and it is apparen: that U:S. News and World Report is striving to make it clear
that the FBI did not use these devices on its own initiative. The article should
| help to set the record straight and it is believed that a letter should be sent to |
