He also attended a meeting of the Secretariat, of the CP, USA, held at CP Headquarters in New York, on August 3, 1967, for the purpose of discussing.the National Conference for ~ New Politics (NCNP) scheduled for August 29 to September 4, -1967; in Chicago. were in attendance at this NCNP convention, one of which supported the concept that the main emphasis of the convention sliould be on organizing a national third ticket based on peac2 and freedom for the 1968 election. Many in this proup supported the idea of a ticket comprised of NARTIN LUTLGP EIsG for rresident and Dr. BESJANIN SPOCK for Vice President. This group was dominated by communists functioning through the 4. E. B. Du Bois Clubs of America and many other organizations in which the - - communists are active. Also included in this group were many pro-ROBERT KaNNEDY liberals including a mmber of original organizers of the ‘ew Politics organization who were seexing a third ticket as a means of weakening President LY! -vOi JCHISON's campaign for re-election in 1968 and laying the basis for a ROLERT NENMEDY 1972 campaign. A great deal of "KLUUZDY noney" was reportedly put into the NCP. _ furnished names of some members of this latter group cut the subject's name was not one of these mentioned.
